The Journey Begins
If you're reading this, it means I was finally obedient to what God told me to do. I have had a passion for writing for as long as I can remember, but when it came to sharing anything I wrote I always found reasons and ways to avoid it, or I shared anonymously. But, I now know that the gifts placed in us are not for us! They are meant to be shared with others. I've disqualified myself more times than I can count before actually going public with this page. I constantly asked myself why anyone would visit my page and why they would care about what I have to say. But now I see, that doesn't matter. What matters is my obedience. If you are meant to hear what I have to say, you will visit. It's not for everyone and I have learned to accept that.So what exactly do I have to say? I'm passionate about a lot of things, but what it always comes back to, and what makes me Sunshine, is my passion for Customer Service. We tend to associate that with call centers and grocery store return counters and things of that nature, but what if I told you customer service is actually a part of your everyday interactions with people, and possessing good customer service skills actually makes you a better Christian? It may not make sense to you now, but keep reading and hopefully it will.I recently came across something I wrote several years ago (thank God for Timehop), and it was the final push and reminder I needed to go ahead and get this page started. I would like to share that with you.
“I have had numerous conversations with my mother, sister, friends, and coworkers about how customer service has all but died. People who truly know me, especially my coworkers, know how passionate I am about customer service. I typically go above and beyond expectations because when it is all said and done I want the other person to walk away satisfied. I realized awhile back that the characteristics of customer service are actually many of the same characteristics we should possess in our own interpersonal relationships. We should be kind, and compassionate, caring, understanding, empathetic, polite, honest, patient, genuine, and gracious whether it's a friend, family member or even a perfect stranger. I got upset the other day because I received a request for help from someone. I went above and beyond to help them and never got a thank you or any response for that matter. I was HOT!!! I mentally went off about how it seems I only hear from certain people (there are several) when they need something from me (especially relating to my job). Here I am going out of my way and you can’t even say thank you? Thats whats wrong with our society now. (Told you i was going off). The nerve of people. And just like that God put me in my place. He said, “daughter that's exactly what you do to me. You call me when there's an issue because you know I have the ability to help you. Once I do, you might say thank you, you might not. You might make good on all those promises you made me if I'd help you just this once, you might not. And then I dont hear from you anymore. Even though you use me for what I can do for you, I don't turn my back on you. I show you love even when you hurt me, kindness even when you mistreat my people, patience even when you disobey, compassion even when you don't show it to others, faithfulness even though you turn your back on me, care even though you trash the gifts I've given you, gentleness even though you have no regard for my heart, grace even though you've done nothing to deserve it, mercy even though you've done wrong, and favor even though you abuse it." So that painful truth led me to wonder, is it really that customer service is dead, or is it that the very foundation of our purpose, to be Christ-like, has been all but forgotten?”
So, let’s talk about it. I would like to hear your thoughts in the comment section of this post, or if you prefer to comment privately you can comment under the contact tab. I look forward to hearing from you, and I hope you'll join me again.Remember, every day you visit is Another Day of Sunshine! ☀️See you soon!
